Get the Colonization Road Study Guide

The Colonization Road study guide is a free educational resource with eight learning activities designed to encourage students to critically examine essential issues in contemporary Canadian society and their historical roots. Using the film as a springboard for further learning, the guide incorporates primary source historical sources, current events, learning activities, and connections to curricular outcomes. Because different classes have varying degrees of flexibility in their schedule, the guide also offers four different suggested pathways for using the film.

Ranging from one class period to a full week, your students will read, write, and talk about the past, present, and future of Canada as they are asked to take an active role in the conversations needed as Canada moves towards Reconciliation. Sample pathways are below.

Flexible Learning Options: There are multiple ways to use the study guide and film to allow teachers to choose learning experiences that best suit their classes and schedules.

Please note that if you or your school order a copy of the film, the study guide will automatically be sent to you.
